Rail posters at Central.

Hi, this is just a quick heads up to anyone going through Central station this Easter. On the main concourse near platforms 1 to 4 there is a small green exhibition paying tribute to rail posters. Well worth checking out; here's a few snaps to give you an idea of what its about...

The exhibition implicitly and explicitly makes a case for recognising Reg Winsor as one of the best rail administrators this country ever produced.

  1. Hey Don, I am collecting railway posters for my model train room and would love to get an original from each state. Do you have ay ideas where I could look for these?

    Cheers

  2. Hi Dean, good question - there are few good places around. Originals are pretty scarce and usually in bad condition (faded, etc.) as they were printed cheaply and displayed in pretty harsh environments. So, if you want an alternative which is cheaper and in many cases better, I'd go back to the sites selling reproductions because they have gone back to the original colours and print on modern, stable paper.

I have used www.redbubble.com.au in the past for some of these reproductions and they retail theirs for about $30 from memory.

    Cheers
